Level 4 Trauma Facility

The Hemphill County Hospital has been given the rating of Level 4 

because it has met the requirements of the state in these areas of trauma care:

 

Training

Education

Equipment

Supplies

Quality Assurance

    

All physicians have certifications in:  ATLS, ACLS, and PALS.

    All RNs have certifications in ACLS, PALS, and TNCC.

Extended Care - Skilled Nursing

Who qualifies

  1. Patient must be an acute care patient in a hospital for a period of 3 days or more within the last 30 days.
  2. Requires daily skilled services to prevent deterioration such as physical therapy.  Admission is based upon need for care, not rehabilitative potential.
  3. Does not require "Special IV Solutions" or infusion pumps.  Established maintenance medications are acceptable.
  4. Wound management.
  5. Patient does not require daily visits by physician.
  6. Patient does not require heart monitoring.
  7. Vital signs are stable.
  8. Physician order required.

1.  Medicare will pay for daily room charge during the first 20 days of care.

2.  Medicare will also pay for all ancillary services:  Physical Therapy, Laboratory, X-ray and Pharmacy, etc.

3.  Some commercial insurance companies will also cover the cost of skilled nursing care.

Respite

Designed for Custodial Care

Two Levels:

1.  $65/day - Patient supplies, own medications and personal articles; must be able to take care of own personal care (requires minimal help).

2.  $98/day - Patient provides own personal supplies.  The staff assists with personal care.

Requirements

  1. Physician order required.
  2. Documentation of health problems
  3. Diet order
  4. Physician orders on any procedure or treatments
  5. Level of Care will be determined by Director of Nursing
  6. All medicines will be administered by nurse unless physician orders specify otherwise.
